After maha parinibbana of Gautama Buddha great
disciples preserved Buddha word during 1st council,2nd council and 3rd council
which was held during era of Asoka and the Buddhaword was spreaded to every
direction with the purpose of giving the opportunity to people living in other
countries to find the teachings of Buddha,which brought peace to India during
Asoka era.The guidance received from king Asoka was followed later in other
countries to preserve wisdom of Buddha revealed as four noble truths which
the ultimate guide in all teachings of Buddha.
The Buddha Dhamma, pure word of the
Buddha contained in Tripitaka which
had been brought by our venerable Maha Sangha in Arya tradition for more than
twenty centuries, was written in ola leaves at Aloka Vihara, Matale during the time of
the King Valagamba. To mark the 2500th Buddha Jayanthi Celebrations these books
were re-edited and translated into Sinhala from Pali language in 53
Volumes. This event marked a great memorable incident of the whole Buddhist
world.
During this era the
teachings of Buddha was used to build a community which is mainly based on five
precepts.
In this era of 2555
Sambuddha Jayanthi the theme becomes spreading the peace and harmony among mankind
and Global Vipassana Pagoda was built in
india as a monument.
