Importance of Akshya Tritiya

The day of Vaishaka month (Apr-May) 3rd day after new moon day is known as Tritiya. This day became famous for the fact that, on this Day Lord Krishna presented the exile Pandavas in the forest, with a golden vessel which would give them unlimited supply of food. Not only that, anything they require or they request would come from that vessel.
Akshaya literally means imperishable flow without drying up.
The events associated with this day:
1. Trethayuga began on this day
2. Lord Parashurama was born on this day
3. Lord Ganapathi along with Sage Vedavyasa started to write the epic Mahabharata on this day. 4. Lord Balarama was born on this day.
 5. The temple of Lord Badrinath in the Himalayas opens on this day after been closed continuously for 6 months.
6. Some believe it’s the appearance day of Goddess Lakshmi from the Milk Ocean when it was churned for Amrutham.
7. It’s on this day that a poor Sudhama gave the beaten rice (avalakki) to Lord Krishna.

Purchasing gold on this day has become a fashion. But the real gold is when its donated or gifted by surprise not purchased. On this day in particular everyone should worship Lord Narayana with Lakshmi Devi. Charity done on this day is said to be 1000 times more beneficial than the normal days. Offering butter milk or jaggery water to the thirsty people would be the best. Doing charity to Brahmins like, rice, cloths, hand fan, gold, cow, books, Bhagvad geetha or whatever they wish would be very good. Avoid eating non veg, onions, and garlic & bakery items.

Don’t insult anyone or think bad for anyone. Don’t hurt anyone on this day in particular.
